Endo support meets military life

So I am incredibly surprised there aren't any other military spouses on here.  I am hoping that there are no responses in this forum simply because no one has initiated any...so it is with high hopes that I reach out for fellow mil spouses who also share the bond of an Endo sister.
Being a military spouse is difficult enough in itself, and being an Endo patient is equally as challenging...but when the two meet, who do you turn to for support?  As a military spouse you are lucky to get 7 hours of time with your spouse through the week (and that is often not quality time), and you are often moving, and uprooting any form of support chain you have developed in your short stint at various military installations world wide.  How do we develop support chains?  This is something I am still working on.  We've only been at this specific installation for one month, and before then it was a short stint for training...so the number of friends has been shrinking at an amazingly disheartening rate!  This is why I put this forward...we need to develop support groups.  No one should have to go this alone.  Not one woman should live with this disease without someone at her side, whether her husband, her best friend, an Endo sister, a biological sister...someone should be there.  God and our spouse can only fill certain voids in our lives.  It is that simple.  With faith that can move mountains and love that can build them...we have amazing power.  But when a sometimes crippling disease meanders into our bodies, ravishing our livelihood, and leaving us scared, angry, and feeling alone, we need someone who will understand.  Someone who can get our "you know you have Endo when..." jokes.  Someone who will understand you aren't joking when you say you want a hysterectomy for Christmas.    Someone who will know just what to say every time you pass a baby and get that far off sad stare...you need support.  As Endo sisters, it is our responsibility to be there for our fellow sufferers.  I am here...I feel alone, but I am here.  I just pray I am not the only one juggling this plethora of trials and tribulations.  I can juggle.  With the faith I have in God, the love I have from my husband, and the courage I carry daily...I can juggle better than any clown...but I how long can we juggle when more obstacles are added?  How long until we need that person who gets it like no one else can to jump in and just laugh with us for a while??  I am an Army wife, mother of a special needs child, Endo patient, Fibro patient, full time college student, and a woman...I have to say, I need an Endo sister...I hope there are more of us out there...

Hello!!!  Wow!  You are a busy gal!  I could imagine with all those things going on in your life, you are lucky to find time to write on these forums, email, or anything else!

My husband is Army, and we are here at Ft. Sill.  It's a different place compared to Ft. Benning, which is where we were before.  But, I have found many women here in OK that have Endo and that is often coupled with other chronic pain disorders like Fibro or Lupus, or even Crohn's.  So, long story short...I would like to learn how to organize a support group here, as depression often couples with these ailments as well and we all need support.  AND, I would LOVE to organize an Endo awareness walk for March.  That is Endo awareness month and I run into soo many people that have no idea what Endometrosis is, and I think, "sit down, I can educate you all night long!"

Well, I had better hop off here...mixed day for me here.  My sister just had her third healthy baby girl!  Part of me is so jealous of her (in a good way) and the rest of me is just over joyed to have another beautiful niece!!  God's blessings come in many ways don't they?

Have a great, pain free, and blessed day!

smile.gif ERC began "Endo Awareness Month" with the Resolution we helped pass many years ago. If you are interested in starting a group over there, please e-mail me at Denise@endocenter.org I will mail you a leader app and review it smile.gif.
Can you believe how quick the holidays are coming on top of everything
Some good gf's and I actually are skipping the BX Black Friday this year and might go straight to Sears...lol- BX stuff is on line as well- as you know- so- we figure best to go far out first. Does yours get super crowded??? Ours is a mad house as we have not only AF but Army Navy (yes- we have Seabees in AZ- go figure) and Marines coming in from Reserve Units.
I am so saddened by the loss of another troop here after the flu virus. What is going on this year??? Did you all have any ill effects with this strain.
Anyway- it *IS* good to talk shop non endo sometimes... It is good to just be another 'sister' smile.gif

hugs!Denise
